Research areas for faculty and students encompass a wide spectrum of themes centered on health equity, including health promotion across the lifespan, health behaviors in women, children and older adults, cardiovascular care, innovative technology, smoking cessation and the health of nurse educators.

Joining Lefler in this research-driven narrative is Dr. Genae Strong, and Methodist Health Care Llewellyn Legacy Professor, each contributing significantly to LCON's ascent in nursing research. As PhD Program Director, Dr. Strong worked with professors and faculty to equip students to generate, interpret and disseminate new knowledge, positioning them as research leaders.
The strategic focus on research excellence is inherently woven into the mission and vision of the LCON PhD program, which aims to produce leaders, scholars and innovative researchers to become stewards within the nursing profession.
